The Science of Hermetic Sealing: Gas-Tight Integrity & Mechanics

An analysis of moisture vapor transmission rates (MVTR), polymer liners, and glass neck thread geometry.

1. Material Engineering: Glass Composition & Molecular Density

Unlike plastic containers (PET, PP, Acrylic) which are prone to microscopic organic migration and high oxygen transmission rates over time, glass stands as an inert, impermeable barrier. At Lecos Glass, we prioritize Type III and Type I Borosilicate glass formulations. These materials undergo precision annealing in computer-controlled lehrs to eliminate internal thermal stresses. The resulting physical structures yield a chemical resistance level (Class HGB1 under ISO 719) that prevents alkaline ion elution, preserving active skincare and pharmaceutical compounds indefinitely.

2. Cap Lining Mechanics: Polymer Dynamics and Gasket Force

An airtight lid is not defined solely by how tight the cap is spun. The critical element is the liner composition and the torque retention of the container finish. We use premium food-grade and medical-grade gaskets, including:

  • PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) / Silicone Laminates: The gold standard for volatile essential oils and cosmetic acid formulations, showing zero chemical reactivity and excellent resilience under compression.
  • SURLYN Polymers: Excellent adhesive properties and micro-gap filling performance, ideal for preventing evaporation of high-alcohol perfume bases.
  • EPE (Expanded Polyethylene) Foam: Standard resilient backing providing a compression seat to absorb variations in cap torque application during high-speed automated filling.

3. Thread Geometry Optimization

Proper sealing depends on precise mechanical interactions. We manufacture neck finishes in strict accordance with the Glass Packaging Institute (GPI) and European Glass Container Manufacturers Association (FEVE) standards. By maintaining tight tolerance controls on dimensions like the outer thread diameter (T), bead diameter (E), and neck interior (I), we ensure even compression across the entire sealing gasket.

Standard Designation Tolerance Limit (mm) Recommended Application Hermetic Performance
GPI 400 (Shallow Continuous Thread) ±0.25 Standard cosmetic jars, dry powder storage High (with EPE liners)
GPI 410 (Medium Continuous Thread) ±0.20 Viscous serums, lotion dispensers Excellent (with liquid pump integration)
GPI 415 (Deep Continuous Thread) ±0.18 Low-viscosity volatile solvents, droppers Ultra-High Hermetic Seal

MACRO INDUSTRY SOLUTIONS

Tailored Packaging Solutions by Industry Segment

Addressing distinct chemical compatibility, UV protection, and storage lifetime requirements across global markets.

Cosmetics & Luxury Skincare

Active ingredients like Retinol, Vitamin C, and Peptides are highly sensitive to oxygen degradation and light exposure. Our thick-walled glass jars combined with airtight inner lids provide complete barrier protection. Specialized dark amber or frosted UV-shield coatings block high-energy visible (HEV) and ultraviolet light, preserving formula stability.

Essential Oils & Aromatherapy

Terpenes and essential plant extracts can dissolve standard plastic materials and escape through inferior cap linings. Lecos Glass manufactures high-precision 5ml to 150ml dropper bottles with chemically inert glass dropper pipettes and PTFE-lined caps. This ensures zero leakage during air cargo transit and long shelf lives for volatile formulations.

Clinical & Pharmaceutical Packaging

Compliance is paramount in healthcare packaging. Our production lines manufacture Type I glass containers that conform to USP <660> and EP 3.2.1 guidelines. Equipped with pharmaceutical-grade airtight lids and tamper-evident designs, they prevent contamination and ensure sterile environments for clinical preparations.

SMART FACTORY 4.0

China Factory 4.0: Supply Chain Resilience & Efficiency

Our manufacturing center blends traditional craftsmanship with Industry 4.0 automation. Our facilities feature advanced Individual Section (IS) forming machines operating alongside automated raw material dosing systems, ensuring consistent container weight and wall thickness across production runs.

We use automated inline inspection technologies (optical cameras and laser scanners) to check every jar and bottle. This system detects micro-cracks, air bubbles, and cosmetic defects at production speeds, allowing us to maintain a low defect rate before packaging.

This automated production model enables us to offer competitive pricing and reliable supply lines, helping brands navigate volatile demand and shipping schedules.
